Angelo Stiller is one of several midfield targets on Manchester United’s transfer radar heading into 2026.

Strengthening in central midfield will be Manchester United’s top priority next year after failing to address it in the summer.

David Ornstein insists United remain interested in Carlos Baleba despite his poor start to the season, while Elliot Anderson is also linked with a move to Old Trafford.

But if the Red Devils are priced out of moves for the Premier League stars, one alternative option is to pursue a deal for 24-year-old Stuttgart midfielder Angelo Stiller.

Jason Wilcox is pushing for Stiller, with United’s sporting director a big admirer of the German. It seems Stiller is also extremely popular in the Stuttgart dressing room.

Angelo Stiller tipped to join ‘top team’ by teammate

Stiller has been compared to Declan Rice due to his high energy and intensity in matches. His form in Germany has caught the eye of several top European clubs, including United and Real Madrid.

Considering Stiller has a release clause in his Stuttgart contract, a move feels inevitable sooner rather than later, and his teammate Chema Andres has backed the midfielder to take the step up.

Via AS, Chema said: “On the pitch, he’s [Stiller] the cornerstone of Stuttgart. He’s the one in charge, the one who runs the show.

Who is your dream Manchester United signing in 2026?

“The team plays the way he wants; he’s a spectacular footballer. But not only with the ball, he’s also excellent defensively.

“He has the quality to make the leap to a top team, without a doubt.”

What we know about Man United target Angelo Stiller

Stiller is emerging as a superstar in the Bundesliga as he helps lead Stuttgart in their quest for Champions League qualification.

The young German came through the ranks of Bayern Munich’s academy before moving to Hoffenheim in 2021 and then VfB Stuttgart in 2023.

Stiller plays in a 3-4-2-1 shape at Stuttgart, the same used by Ruben Amorim at United, which should help him adapt if he makes a move to Old Trafford in 2026.

Amid the ongoing transfer rumours, Stiller says he is open to moving abroad, which leaves the door open for United to try and seal a deal.

He primarily plays as a defensive midfielder, making him a suitable candidate to be the long-term heir to Casemiro at Old Trafford.
