Manchester United have been linked to Alex Scott as a potential midfield target, but signing him this summer just got much more complicated.

Alex Scott is a long-term target for Manchester United, with scouts watching him in action for several years now.

Scouts were blown away by Scott this season as he made a step up in a Bournemouth side that has achieved a sixth-placed finish in the Premier League.

But with Bournemouth now preparing for a season in the Europa League, the Cherries are eager to keep hold of their 22-year-old star.

Alex Scott offered new contract amid Man Utd interest

According to transfer expert Fabrizio Romano on X, Bournemouth have already made a new contract proposal to Alex Scott.

Bournemouth have waved goodbye to manager Andoni Iraola and welcomed Marco Rose as their new manager. He is eager to keep hold of Scott.

Scott has been identified as a “crucial player” to Bournemouth’s project, and he has been offered an improved contract to try and keep him at the Vitality Stadium.

It is unknown whether or not Scott’s new contract proposal includes a release clause, but if he commits to a new deal it would practically rule out a move to Old Trafford this summer.

Alex Scott contract details

Scott is under contract at Bournemouth until 2028 already, but a new and improved deal would likely take him to beyond 2030.

According to SalarySport, Scott is currently earning around £58,000 per week on his current Bournemouth deal.

But Manchester Evening News report that the new contract has “significantly improved” terms, so Scott is in line for a huge pay rise.

United could obviously offer Scott a pay rise, but luring him away from Bournemouth just became much more difficult.
