Ajax’s squad are dealing with the confirmed news manager Erik ten Hag is heading to Manchester United.

While United fans wait to see if Ten Hag will bring any of his current players with him to Old Trafford, one has thrown his hat into the ring.

Striker Brian Brobbey has put his name forward for a transfer to Manchester United, even if he says he is kidding around.

He made the comments after scoring the 88th minute winner over NEC Nijmegen to seal a 1-0 victory and keep their Eredivisie title charge on track.

Brobbey was asked about Ten Hag post-game, and spoke to Voetball International.

He said: “I’m very happy for Ten Hag. It is a very nice step.

“As long as he gets me again in two years. No kidding.”

Brobbey’s future is a little complicated, as he is not an Ajax player, but on loan to RB Leipzig.

He quit Ajax last year on a free for the German club, before Ten Hag re-signed him on loan in January.

This season he has four goals in seven Eredivisie games for Ajax, of which just two were as a starter.

Interestingly, he was linked to United last year, with Marca reporting: “Brobbey dreamed as a child of making his debut with Ajax and leaving for Manchester United.”

With Ten Hag a fan, this might be a deal which happens at some stage, with United on the lookout for a young forward.

Brobbey, still only 20, scored a phenomenal 84 goals in 103 academy games for Ajax.
