Ajax right-back on Manchester United transfer list shares his future plans

Ajax defender Devyne Rensch has explained his plans for the future amid Manchester United interest.

Devnye Rensch, 20, is one of the many Ajax stars handed their debuts by current Red Devils boss Erik ten Hag.

The talented right-back plays in a position Manchester United are open-minded about strengthening in, and The Sun reported in January that Ten Hag has put his name on a shortlist of Eredivisie players he wants his scouts to watch.

But don’t expect Rensch to join the flow of Ajax players quitting Amsterdam just yet. He says he wants to stay.

Devyne Rensch clarifies future plans

Devyne Rensch has shut down the possibility of following Antony and Lisandro Martinez to Old Trafford this summer.

Meanwhile  Foot Mercato had linked Arsenal with a move, and Give Me Sport had claimed Liverpool wanted him as a back up to Trent Alexander-Arnold.

Rensch isn’t interested in leaving Ajax yet. He told ELF Football, via Ajax Showtime: “I definitely have ambitions and goals for the future. But I’d rather keep this one to myself.

“I will be with Ajax until mid-2025. I’m not done here yet and I still want to show a lot here.”

Rensch’s attitude is admirable, amid the tricky season Ajax have been having in comparison to the lofty standards Erik ten Hag set.

The defender has made 33 appearances in all competitions this season, scoring three goals. These include 24 league starts – compared to just eight last season.

Rensch may know he isn’t quite ready for such a big jump. That’s fair enough. Expect Manchester United to continue to monitor his development. Erik ten Hag knows him better than anybody.

If United are still interested in signing a right-back in 2025 – and who knows if that will be the case – Rensch may well be on the list.
