Agent says Manchester United ace had offers from ‘biggest clubs in the world’

Altay Bayindir ‘received offers’ from Ajax, Inter Milan and Sevilla before moving to the Premier League with Manchester United over the summer.

The Turkey international might not have made a first-team appearance for the Red Devils yet but, make no mistake, Altay Bayindir is regarded very highly indeed behind the scenes at Old Trafford (The Mirror).

And with good reason. Bayindir blossomed into one of the best goalkeepers in Turkey during his time at Fenerbahce, while eye-catching performances against Germany and Wales during the November international break provided a timely reminder of the talent Manchester United have at their disposal.

Manchester United rate Altay Bayindir highly

United were not the only big-name club to express their interest in Bayindir before his move to Old Trafford. Far from it.

Speaking to Sport Digitale, the 25-year-old’s agent claims that Bayindir received a veritable avalanche of ‘offers’ from clubs on all corners of the continent before he put pen to paper with Man United in August.

“During the four years we were at Fenerbahce, we received offers from the biggest clubs in the world every year, in every transfer window, “ Seyrek explains, via Sporx. “There was Ajax, Inter Milan, Sevilla. Clubs from France. There was an offer from Italy.

“We constantly encountered offers and interest. There were people who did not believe it.”

“In the transfer to Manchester United, I conducted all the negotiations myself. I expressed our wishes and demands.”

Did Erik ten Hag want him at Ajax?

Unfortunately Seyrek did not spell out exactly when Ajax tried to lure Bayindir away from Istanbul. Was it during Erik ten Hag’s successful stint in the Johan Cryuff Arena dugout?

It certainly won’t come as a surprise if that is indeed the case, Antony, Lisandro Martinez, Sofyan Amrabat and Andre Onana all arriving at Old Trafford under a coach who tends to favour players he knows and trusts.

Bayindir, meanwhile, has had to be patient as he awaits his chance on the Manchester United bench. A run in the starting XI could arrive in January, however, if Onana jets out to compete in the African Cup of Nations with Cameroon.
