Galatasaray continue to be linked with Altay Bayindir but the Manchester United goalkeeper has no plans on leaving the Premier League giants already.

The fact that this is even a point of discussion – the goalkeeper linked with a return to the Turkish Super Lig in some sections of the press – probably has a lot to do with the fact that Altay Bayindir has not made a single appearance since joining Manchester United from Fenerbahce in August.

Despite a mixed start to life at Old Trafford, the 25-year-old has had to stay patient, waiting for his chance.

And, as Bayindir’s agent explains to Sport Digitale, there is not even a shred truth to the reports suggesting that the 6ft 6ins shot-stopper will look to bring an early end to his Red Devils career after just a few months in Manchester.

“There have been speculation about Galatasaray for two weeks, or even more, in a very intense period. We do not have any plans to return to Turkey or have a career in Turkey at the moment,” Sefa Seyrek says, via Sporx, in the aftermath of United’s thrilling 3-3 draw in the Ali Sami Yen.

“Altay is currently focused on Manchester United. His only goal at the moment is to wear that jersey and make us proud. That’s all he wants to do.

“We have no plans for Turkey. All of our career plans are to stay where we are now, and move forward with a focus on the European Championships.”

A long-awaited opportunity should come Bayindir’s way sooner rather than later, even if Onana retains his place in Erik ten Hag’s XI for the time being. The Cameroonian could miss a number of weeks in the New Year with the African Cup of Nations looming.

Seyrek, however, insists that Bayindir is not merely waiting for AFCON to begin, hoping to nab Onana’s jersey as soon as possible.

“We’re focused on taking over (the number one shirt) before then. We are not focusing on the African Cup at all. We are going week by week. Altay aims to take over before then,” the agent adds.

“His relationship with Onana is incredibly good. They have an incredibly good friendship. I hope that Altay will be able to take the (starting spot) in a fair manner.”
