Manchester United have real hope of signing Sofyan Amrabat but his agent claims there are a few options on the table.

United are now prioritising the signing of a new striker with Atalanta ace Rasmus Hojlund the top target.

Adding Hojlund after already signing goalkeeper Andre Onana and midfielder Mason Mount would make this a very impressive window.

There could be scope for more signings though with another defensively-minded midfielder possibly wanted.

United didn’t quite look the same whenever Casemiro was unavailable last season with cover and competition now needed.

Now, we can’t expect to see a Casemiro-level player arrive but an interesting link has emerged with Sofyan Amrabat.

Manchester United have teed up Sofyan Amrabat move

Fans may know Amrabat from the World Cup in Qatar as his inspirational displays helped Morocco on their dream run to the semi-finals.

United boss Erik ten Hag has known all about the Fiorentina star for a lot longer than that though.

Amrabat and Ten Hag worked together at Utrecht between 2015 and 2017 and could reunite at Old Trafford.

The Independent reported last week that United have already set up the ‘basics of a deal’ to sign Amrabat this summer.

This seems like the ideal move for United; established competition for Casemiro and a player who knows Ten Hag well, just like Onana, Lisandro Martinez and Antony.

The move allegedly depends on United offloading a few fringe players first but Amrabat seems to be a prime target.

Amrabat agent comments on transfer situation

Agent Mahmoud El Boustati has now spoken to Voetbal Primeur about Amrabat’s future.

El Boustati claims that ‘quite a few clubs’ are chasing the midfielder’s signature this summer.

It’s suggested that there are ‘two or three’ clubs that Amrabat is now open to joining, with United surely one of them.

El Boustati believes that Fiorentina are open to a sale and it’s now all about making the right choice for Amrabat’s career.

There is also interest from Saudi Arabia though, meaning United do risk missing out if there isn’t a firm move soon.

“Quite a few clubs are interested in Sofyan,” said El Boustati. “It is now a matter of making the right choice. He is still just a Fiorentina player and he reported to Fiorentina on Monday.”

“If something interesting comes up, Sofyan is open to the step, Fiorentina too. There are two, three clubs that he is open to.”

“There is interest from Saudi Arabia. But there is no concrete offer or concrete interest,” he added.
