Manchester United remain interested in Geovany Quenda, Jorge Mendes prepares client for big move

Geovany Quenda has been on Manchester United’s radar since the start of the season.

It will take years for Ineos to build a Manchester United squad capable of winning the biggest honours, but they have chosen Ruben Amorim as their head coach to make that happen.

United made two signings in the January transfer window, including Patrick Dorgu from Lecce and Ayden Heaven from Arsenal.

Amorim added two defensive reinforcements to his squad, though United are still lacking in other areas of the team, such as the striker department.

The winter transfer window has now shut and United won’t get a chance to sign more players until the summer. That means Amorim needs to make do with what he has available for the remainder of the season.

United have already started preparing for the summer transfer window and the scouting network will be in overdrive for the rest of the campaign.

Manchester United open to Geovany Quenda deal

Sporting CP winger Geovany Quenda made his professional debut under Amorim in August.

Quenda’s rise to prominence has seen him start 18 league fixtures this season, on top of eight Champions League ties.

The Portugal international is versatile as a player with the ability to switch from the right wing to the left wing, like United’s new signing Dorgu, which gives us all an idea of the type of player Amorim wants to bolster his squad.

According to the Manchester Evening News, United remain open to signing Quenda, despite the arrival of Dorgu.

It is understood that United met with super agent Jorge Mendes in November to discuss Quenda’s future at Sporting.

One source told the Manchester Evening News that Mendes has bought half of Quenda’s image rights. That could be a hint that they are preparing for a big move in the near future.

Amorim wants versatile wingers at Manchester United

Quenda, 17, and Dorgu, 20, are both left-footed with plenty of time to develop into world-renowned stars of the game.

Ineos have thus far bought players for the future and Quenda would be another example of that.

This also shows that Amorim wants wingers who can play both flanks. In theory, this would make United less predictable and give the head coach more options to select from.

United also need players with high intensity to carry out the duties that Amorim will demand from them.
