Manchester United linked forward Mohammed Kudus has confirmed the player wants to leave Ajax this summer.

A day after it was reported by The Athletic that Mohammed Kudus has told Ajax he wants to leave, his agent has confirmed it [via Metro].

The Ghana international has been at Ajax since 2020 when he joined Erik ten Hag’s side.

Now after an impressive season which has seen Kudus score 18 goals for Ajax in all competitions, he feels it is time to move on.

Mohammed Kudus wants out

Mohammed Kudus’ agent Jennifer Mendelewitsch is quoted via Metro confirming the player’s desire to leave the club this summer.

She said: “I think it is best for both Ajax and Mohammed that he makes a transfer now. Now is the right time.”

The statement is early and clear, Mohammed Kudus expects to leave Ajax this summer and his contract situation backs up the comments over timing.

Kudus’ contract expires in 2025, making this the optimum time for Ajax to get a decent fee, rather than having to accept a reduced price next summer.

It also comes off the best season of Kudus’ career. The Athletic report Ajax would demand around £40 million for the forward.

Manchester United were reported by The Telegraph earlier this season to have Kudus on a shortlist of attacking options.

While not a conventional striker, Kudus can play the role and could support a more traditional striker, while being able to play in multiple positions and not simply utilised as a back-up.
