Manchester United defender Victor Lindelof has been a back-up so far this season and now he is a wanted man.
According to Fabrice Hawkins, of RMC Sport, French side Stade Rennais are considering a move for the Swedish defender to replace Arthur Theate.
Theate, 23, has been linked with Liverpool and a host of other Premier League clubs. If he were to depart the French side then Lindelof may well be a potential option for the French side who finished fourth in Ligue 1 last season.
Lindelof was superb towards the end of last season in the absence of Lisandro Martinez but with the Argentine returning, Lindelof may well be a backup for the majority of the season.

Lindelof’s stance revealed
Crucially, the Swedish defender, who joined United back in 2017 from Benfica, is said to be happy at Old Trafford according to the same post by Hawkins on X.
The defender is supposedly a key player at Old Trafford under Erik ten Hag and could well be the third-choice defender behind the starting pair of Martinez and Raphael Varane.
United signed the defender for £31million from the Portuguese side six years ago, so the Red Devils would surely demand a similar amount of money to that, if not more.
Maguire would becomee the new third choice
If Lindelof were to leave United then unless the Old Trafford side can find a suitable replacement, then it would seem that Harry Maguire would be the backup defender.
MORE UNITED STORIES
Maguire looked set to complete his move to West Ham United but the deal collapsed due to United needing to pay Maguire off for the deal and David Moyes’ side were fed up with waiting according to The Guardian.
It seems Lindelof will remain at United and Maguire will be the one to leave if any of United’s four main centre-backs were to leave.
