Manchester United have been linked with Justin Bijlow and the Feyenoord stopper has admitted that contact took place.

There has been a real changing of the guard between the sticks for United this summer.

David De Gea has moved on after more than a decade between the sticks at Old Trafford.

United have now splashed the cash to sign Inter Milan stopper Andre Onana, reuniting him with his former Ajax boss Erik ten Hag.

There could be even more change yet with Dean Henderson and Tom Heaton attracting Premier League interest.

United may yet go for another stopper amid links to Japanese talent Zion Suzuki, but Justin Bijlow may no longer be on the radar.

Manchester United have been linked with Feyenoord star Justin Bijlow

Bijlow’s name became popular in the United transfer rumour mill as talks over a deal for Onana dragged on.

The Athletic reported in July that United had made contact to sign Bijlow from Feyenoord.

The 25-year-old won the Eredivisie title with Feyenoord last season and Ten Hag will know all about his ability.

There were even claims from The Mirror just a couple of weeks ago that United were still in talks over signing Bijlow just in case the Onana deal fell through.

United have got the Onana deal done but it’s unlikely that we see Bijlow arrive to just play backup to the Cameroonian.

Bijlow admits United contact but isn’t expecting a transfer

Bijlow has now been quoted by FR12 as saying that there really was contact from United this summer.

It’s unclear whether that contact was with Bijlow’s representatives or Feyenoord, but it may well have been both as United weighed up a deal.

Bijlow claims it’s now ‘quiet’ around him as an exit appears to be off the table, and he doesn’t want to speak much about United out of respect for his hometown club.

Bijlow is happy to stay at Feyenoord for at least another year as he gears up to play in the Champions League for Arne Slot’s side.

“I don’t want to talk about it too much, it’s just quiet now,” said Bijlow. “There was just contact. Manchester United have not made an offer to Feyenoord, but what I say: I don’t want to talk about it out of respect for Feyenoord.”

“I want to achieve the highest achievable in my career. When that is, we will see for ourselves. Another year at Feyenoord, that’s never bad,” he added.

Maybe United keep tabs on Bijlow but with Onana on board, it feels like the Old Trafford doors are closed to the Feyenoord star for the foreseeable future.
