21-year-old Man Utd wonderkid now targeted for January loan to playoff contenders

Sunderland are believed to be keen on resigning Amad Diallo in January, if Manchester United make him available for loan.

Manchester United‘s 21-year-old Ivorian winger, Amad Diallo saw his plans to take the first-team by storm shattered in pre-season. An injury picked up against Arsenal in the USA has seen him out for nearly three months.

On the verge of return however, he will hope to bounce back and show why fans were so excited about him before. But with the January transfer window just two and a half months away, he could see himself better served heading back out on-loan.

This probably depends heavily on how Erik ten Hag intends to use him, but if it’s decided that a loan is the best move, one club are believed to be highly interested.

Sunderland took Amad on loan last season, where he scored 14-goals and assisted four in all competitions as he left an icon. Now the rumours have started up suggesting the Black Cats are confident of a deal being done.

Sunderland interested in Amad loan

According to a report from INews, Sunderland are keen on bringing Amad back to the Stadium of Light.

“Sunderland’s reputation for developing players has also opened up potential loan routes for the club.

“It is understood that the club have forged a good relationship with United and would be interested in Amad Diallo if he is made available for loan in January.”

Does it make sense for United?

Clearly if Amad isn’t going to get the game-time he needs, a loan should transpire.

There is no point in having him sitting on the bench or playing youth football, both representing a potential regression in his development.

Amad would be a key figure for Sunderland in their hunt for the playoffs and to go a step further and gain promotion.

Playing on the right, he could form a deadly duo with Jack Clarke who will be on the left.
