Fred is already helping Fenerbahce reach record-breaking levels since leaving Premier League giants Manchester United for a fresh start in Turkey.

At this stage, the former Manchester United midfielder must be running out of captions for his victorious, post-match social media posts.

It was certainly very much a case of ‘Job Done’ on Sunday, Fenerbahce triumphing 2-0 away at Kasimpasa to maintain their 100 per cent start to the current campaign. Their eighth successive win in the Turkish Super Lig, meanwhile, equalled a club-record. Beat Hatayspor next time out, and Fred will have a place in the club’s history books to call his own, with few players anywhere on the continent capable of matching the Brazilian’s impact at his new club.

Fred shines after Manchester United exit

“Having such a long winning streak can scare opponents,” former Fener defender Ilkay Yagcioglu tells TRT Sport, Fred victorious in every single one of his 11 appearances for the Istanbul giants.

“The biggest difference between Fenerbahce this season and in previous seasons is that the coach and the players know how Fenerbahce will play. This was a Fenerbahce team who did not let the opponent reach their goal, and won a lot of balls in attack.”

Fred, with his vast experience and Duracell energy levels, certainly played a key role in another dominant display. The all-action 30-year-old, signed in a £13 million deal from Manchester United in August, completed over 90 per cent of his passes while winning back possession on no fewer than five occasions (WhoScored).

He even created two chances for his Fener team-mates. As midfield performances go, you’ll struggle to find one more complete than this.

Fenerbahce top of the Turkish Super Lig

“We had a successful transfer season,” Fenerbahce president Ali Koc explains, admitting that he jumped at the opportunity to bring Fred to Turkey when hearing that Man United had made him available for transfer.

“With Fred, we had a meeting at my house. I get a call from England; ‘If you want Fred, come immediately’.

“Two hours later the plane arrived. (My sporting directors) had no luggage or anything. They jumped on the plane and went. They finished the job in Manchester that night, and worked very well as a team.

“I thank them very much.”
