Tottenham Hotspur striker Harry Kane is reportedly hoping Premier League rivals Manchester United renew their interest in him but Daniel Levy’s demands could still scupper Erik ten Hag’s hopes.
Perhaps he got a taste for it.

England’s opener during Monday’s 7-0 hammering of North Macedonia on Monday night was, for the Manchester United fans in attendance, a rather bittersweet reminder of what could be.

Manchester United are huge Harry Kane fans
It is common knowledge that Kane was Ten Hag’s number one striker target.
That United have spent the last few weeks courting Rasmus Hojlund and Randal Kolo Muani instead, however, is testament to how little stomach the Red Devils appear to have for a summer-long saga. One which would – in all probability – end with Levy handcuffing Kane to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium goalposts.
United, according to the Daily Mail, have no intention of paying £100 million for a 30-year-old with just 12 months left on his contract. That has not stopped Kane from ‘hoping’ for a renewed effort from the Old Trafford outfit, however.
Kane has admirers at Real Madrid, Bayern Munich and Paris Saint-Germain but his ‘clear preference’ remains a move to Manchester; the prospect of breaking Alan Shearer’s Premier League record appealing greatly to a striker who hit 30 top-flight goals last season for a largely dreadful Tottenham side.
The Mail add that United may be tempted to renew their interest. But only if Spurs are willing to listen to offers in the region of £80 million. That still feels like wishful thinking.
The already-unpopular Levy will know that selling Tottenham’s talisman to a direct Premier League rival would only serve to expand the growing gap between the two sides. Erik ten Hag’s team finished five places and 15 points ahead of Spurs last term, despite spending much of the campaign battling it out for a Champions League spot.
“First of all, the number of goals,” Ten Hag told the Manchester Evening News when asked what he likes about Kane back in April. “And also his key actions (that lead) to a goal. Final passes as well.
“He is just a great player. Great personality as well.”
