Top scorer: Wayne Rooney
The highest scoring player during the Sir Alex Ferguson era was Wayne Rooney, who netted 197 goals under the great manager.
Rooney eventually scored 253 goals, netting his final 56 under David Moyes, Louis van Gaal and Jose Mourinho.
Ferguson made a prediction that Rooney would become a club legend when he signed him in 2004 from Everton, and he was happy to be proven correct.
The second highest scorer under Ferguson was not a striker, it was winger-turned-midfielder Ryan Giggs.
Giggs is United’s record appearance maker with 963 in total. 941 of these were played under Ferguson, and he netted 168 goals during these games.
Paul Scholes followed with 155 goals for United, all scored under Ferguson. It is quite incredible that two academy graduates make up the top three.
Ruud van Nistelrooy ranked fourth with 150 goals for the club, and it was one of Ferguson’s earliest signings in fifth, Brian McClair with 127 goals.
Ole Gunnar Solskjaer, Andy Cole, Cristiano Ronaldo, Mark Hughes and Eric Cantona make up the top 10.
