David Ornstein has provided Manchester United fans with an update this morning about whether the rumours of Sheikh Jassim’s bid winning are true.

A report last night from The Sun stated that Sheikh Jassim was set to win the race to buy United and the deal could be announced as early as next month.

United fans have heard all this before. Originally, the deal was set to be completed before Easter and here we are in August with no resolution in sight as to when the Glazers, if ever, will sell the club.

The American owners have made it 18 years in charge at Old Trafford, although an end could well be in sight according to reports.

David Ornstein update

As mentioned, Ornstein has provided an update on the situation and it does seem to be moving, albeit at a snail’s pace.

Speaking on Sky Sports News’ newspaper review, he said: “The big unanswered question is whether the Glazers will really sell Manchester United when push comes to shove. So far we haven’t had an answer yet but perhaps we are getting towards it now.

“There was a consensus that this [the takeover] will get a resolution after the transfer window.”

Is a takeover resolution finally near

The rumours in the past 12 hours seem to indicate that a resolution may well be finally near. No matter what, the delay from the Glazer family has been a disgrace.

For the family to delay the sale until after the transfer window is a disgrace. Erik ten Hag has been truly undermined during this transfer window, had the deal with the Qataris or with Jim Ratcliffe been completed, then United could have had more maneuverability in the transfer market.

A delayed takeover is a takeover nonetheless and the sooner that the American family sells the club, the sooner United can move on and start to rebuild properly.
