Sheikh Jassim has Glazers fear and Erik ten Hag shares same view

The battle for the ownership of Manchester United drags on and on and frustration is shared from all sides.

There is no resolution yet to the Manchester United takeover, a process which began publicly back in November.

The two top bidders are Sir Jim Ratcliffe and Sheikh Jassim, and it is very possible the Glazers keep stringing both along for the next few weeks.

This is causing particular frustration for the bidders, explained by CBS Sports Ben Jacobs via The United Stand.

Sheikh Jassim frustration

Jacobs explained that Sheikh Jassim’s camp are concerned that the delay has dragged on into the transfer window. Ideally a takeover would have been completed in advance.

He said: “The more this drags on, the more the asset they are trying to buy is damaged.”

He added that even if a takeover were concluded immediately, any new bidder would want to review the club’s leadership staff, and a swift transition would be difficult – and also referenced Chelsea’s chaotic summer last year.

Erik ten Hag shares similar view

Erik ten Hag has not spoken to Sheikh Jassim or Sir Jim Ratcliffe at all, Ben Jacobs added.

And he explained that this lack of clarity is unhelpful, commenting: “He’s in the dark about what kind of structure comes into the club, what kind of budget he would have.”

He added: “The last thing he would want is to sit down at pre-season and be asked again and again and again about the ownership situation.

“It’s absolutely true he is frustrated, it’s absolutely true groups are frustrated.”

The Glazers are dragging this out, and while they won’t care about United’s future success, if they do cause the club to depreciate in value, or cause the bidders to walk away, it would be problematic.

A more immediate concern is how this impacts Erik ten Hag, as a difficult or unsuccessful summer will make next season a challenging one, with teams around United busy strengthening already.
