Manchester United share owners with the Tampa Bay Buccaneers and the NFL franchise is welcome to them.
The Glazers were not supposed to still be part of Manchester United by now. But like a bad smell that just won’t go away, they linger on at Old Trafford.
The takeover process has now exceeded one year, and is expected to end with Sir Jim Ratcliffe buying a 25 per cent stake in the club.
Manchester United fans hope this will lead to a full buyout later on. But at present, even the partial takeover has not yet been fully completed and signed off.
Glazers video in Tampa Bay goes viral
Manchester United fans knew before the Glazers bought the club that their first love would be NFL franchise the Tampa Bay Buccaneers, and so it has proved.
While they rarely, if ever, set foot in Old Trafford, the owners‘ presence in Tampa is far more regular and visible… and more welcome.
A video has been going viral this week of three Glazer brothers, Bryan, Joel and Avram, congratulating the Tampa Bay players after their win over Green Bay.
This was just a regular season game, and means Tampa Bay now have an average record of seven wins and seven losses.
But you can feel the genuine warmth they seem to have for the team – something they have never displayed for Manchester United.
Manchester United fans react
Manchester United fans had lots to say as this video of the Glazers emerged. This video does not reflect the type of owners they are, in regard to this club.
“Disgrace the lot of them,” one Manchester United fan blasted in reply, with another adding: “Worst owners in sport.”
Another asked: “Why don’t they concentrate on that then rather than the absolute mess they have made of Man Utd.”
A fourth fan wrote: “Let them focus on their NFL franchise and leave United having destroyed the club over the last 18+ years!”
A further comment read: “They make me sick. Hated by all United fans. Parasites, glad handing here but no shows for Sir Bobby’s funeral.”
More comments included: “I cannot tell you how furious this makes me,” and “And yet they won’t fix the leaks at OT. Worst owners ever.”
The sooner the Glazers clear off from Manchester United the better. The Buccs are their passion. Manchester United supporters deserve better.
