Sir Jim Ratcliffe’s offer to buy Manchester United from the Glazer family is set to include a crucial clause in the deal.
The deal to buy Manchester United from the American family has been dragging on and on for most of 2023 and it seems Jim Ratcliffe, the founder of the petrochemical company INEOS, is set to win the race for the Red Devils.
The 70-year-old is set to acquire 25% of the Old Trafford club with the Glazer family owning 69% so they will remain as majority shareholder.
However, despite this, there is thought to be a key element to this agreement, which is set to be ratified by the crucial decision-makers at the club next week.

Ratcliffe’s clause
According to a report from the Daily Mail, Ratcliffe has only offered such a generous amount to the American family as he will have a major influence on the key sporting decisions at the club.
The report states that Ratcliffe, who owns OGC Nice as well as Swiss side Lausanne, will make his own set of appointments at the club and will undergo a 100-day review of the club.
Erik ten Hag’s job at the club will be safe no matter what, according to the same report.
However, John Murtough’s and Richard Arnold’s jobs are set to be put under the microscope in this three-month review of the club.
Ratcliffe eases tension
The English billionaire, who grew up a United fan, is perhaps set to ease the tension amongst the fanbase that ensued late last night when the news of Ratcliffe’s purchase of a minority of the club.
The sporting decisions, which have been heavily criticised over the last few years, will be given to Ratcliffe and his team.
Appointments in the right areas need to be made for this to be a success and, based on his time in France so far, Ratcliffe is certainly capable of exactly this.
