Manchester United have been linked with a move for VfB Stuttgart winger Jamie Leweling with the pacey winger excelling in the Bundesliga.

Erik ten Hag’s Manchester United have only scored five Premier League goals this season with the Red Devils only bettered by Southampton who have scored just four goals in England’s top division.

Marcus Rashford and Alejandro Garnacho have struggled for the Red Devils this campaign and it is perhaps not surprising that United are potentially after a new winger.

Jamie Leweling has excelled under German manager Sebastian Hoeness for Stuttgart and there is little surprise to see the winger being linked with a move to the Premier League. United have now been linked with a move for Leweling.

Latest Jamie Leweling to Manchester United transfer news

German outlet Sudwest 24 have claimed that some of Europe’s top clubs have scouted Leweling and could be prepared to make a move for the German.

Scouts from Old Trafford were present in Germany to watch Stuttgart’s dominant 5-1 over Borussia Dortmund with the Red Devils reportedly having the 23-year-old ‘on their list’.

Where and when was Jamie Leweling born?

Leweling was born in Nuremberg, which is in Franconia, the second-largest city in the German state of Bavaria.

Whilst Leweling is German-born, the winger does have Ghaniain descent but has declared himself to the German national team.

Leweling was born on February 26th, 2001, which makes him 23 years of age at the time of writing this.

What position does Jamie Leweling play?

Leweling is a pacey winger who has excelled for Stuttgart under Sebastian Hoeness with the German predominantly playing on the right wing.

At United, Ten Hag has Antony and Amad Diallo as winger options but Amad has been the only winger to impress for the Red Devils this current campaign.

How tall is Jamie Leweling?

Leweling is 1.84 metres tall which is the equivalent of 6 feet tall. A winger being tall is not one of the priorities but it is certainly a benefit.

How good is Jamie Leweling?

This season for Stuttgart, Leweling has featured in 10 games for the German side in all competitions and during this time he has scored one goal and provided two assists.

With Jamal Musiala injured for Germany, manager Julian Naglesmann called up Leweling to the German national team for games against Bosnia Herzegovina and the Netherlands.

Speaking to the media after September’s UEFA Champions League game against Real Madrid, he said of Leweling: “He is very difficult to defend at the moment and causes problems for many defenders. He can continue to play the way he has now. That is a high level.”

VfB Stuttgart director Fabian Wohlgemuth said of Leweling to the Bundesliga website: “Jamie featured in every Bundesliga match [last season], and that statistic alone shows just how important he is to the team.

“His commitment and willingness to work for the team make him a very valuable player for us.”

When does Jamie Leweling’s contract expire?

Leweling has a contract at Stuttgart which does not expire until 2028 so United may well have to stump up a hefty sum for the winger.

How much would Jamie Leweling cost Manchester United?

According to Transfermarkt, Leweling has a valuation of just £7.6 million which would certainly be affordable for the Red Devils.

However, if Leweling continues to improve his valuation could exceed that number.
