Manchester United fans will soon have a new manager to get behind as Sporting Lisbon’s Ruben Amorim is inching closer to the job.
Amorim has ‘verbally agreed’ a deal to become Man Utd manager with only the compensation amount to be decided and with that, Ineos will have their own man.
They did give an extension to Erik ten Hag in the summer but it looked like a marriage of convenience all along and it has ended that way too.
Now, though, they look set to have made their first managerial appointment in Ruben Amorim and it’s an exciting one as well.
If all goes according to plan and the deal is agreed upon, then Amorim could be in place sooner than expected because the situation is developing rapidly.
Here’s predicting when Amorim can take charge of his first Man Utd game if appointed manager-

Ruben Amorim’s first Man Utd game
Right off the bat, two games can be excluded from this prediction. United have already announced Ruud van Nistelrooy will be in interim charge for the Leicester City game.
Then comes Chelsea at Old Trafford and it’s highly unlikely that Amorim isn’t given a soft landing into the job to build some momentum.
Therefore, Van Nistelrooy is likely to be in charge for that game one as well. Things become interesting after that game.
United’s next fixture is at home to PAOK in the Europa League and the optics around the game make it the perfect launch for Amorim.
Not only is that an eminently winnable game, United are still to open their account in the Europa League with three draws in three games.
If Amorim can break that duck in his debut game, then that immediately adds a bit of momentum to his reign.

With Leicester City in the league to follow before the third international break, it provides an ideal opportunity for Amorim to get off the mark with two games, followed by two weeks of no games to get his feet under the table.
With the pace at which this deal is developing, he might well be seen in the stands for the Chelsea game to whip the crowd up and help the team gather energy from a positive atmosphere.
Expectation from Amorim
Of course, he is yet to sign on the dotted line but as the most likely candidate at this time, it is fair to assess what will be expected from him.
Sir Dave Brailsford played a crucial role in turning Amorim’s head since he was reluctant to leave Sporting midseason so clearly, some promises have been made and an understanding has been reached.
It will be up to Amorim now to live up to the expectations because “he’s not Ten Hag” factor will wear off soon.
Fortunately for him, United’s start to the season has been so remarkably bad that just a couple of wins here and there will be enough to get the club smiling again.
For the season, if he can get the club back to near the Champions League places, if not qualify, and a deep run in the Europa League would make it a certified success.
