Three important reasons why Manchester United need to stick by Erik ten Hag

Erik ten Hag will be feeling the heat once again at Manchester United.

The Red Devils squad suffered arguably their most embarrassing defeat of the season as they were battered 3-0 in their own backyard against Bournemouth.

Erik ten Hag, his coaching staff and the footballing world were shocked about how the game unfolded – with the Cherries picking apart United like they were Premier League winners.

This has, of course, led to more speculation that the manager could be on his way out of Old Trafford. Here are three important reasons as to why this shouldn’t happen.

Manchester United’s history tends to repeat itself

Since Sir Alex Ferguson‘s departure, there has been an ever-present cycle regarding managers of Manchester United. The cycle appears to go as so:

This has happened with Louis van Gaal, Jose Mourinho, Ole Gunnar Solksjaer and, seemingly now, Erik ten Hag.

We can not allow another sacking which just starts the process all over again. Ten Hag was, and still is, meant to break the dreaded cycle.

United needs to remember that the dismissal of the man at the helm doesn’t magically change the infrastructure of the club.

Fickle fans forget what Erik ten Hag did for the club

Some Manchester United fans are forgetting what Ten Hag achieved last season.

In what was such a bleak 21/22 campaign, Ten Hag managed to reignite the flame in Manchester United. He gave us our first trophy since Mourinho, brought back Champions League football and got the Red Devils to an FA Cup Final.

Considering the dark days of Ralf Rangnick which were mere months before his arrival – Ten Hag has brought United the first bit of real joy surrounding United in half a decade.

Erik ten Hag is still Man Utd’s best option…

The be-all and end-all is that, despite anyone’s opinions, Ten Hag is still Manchester United’s best option for the manager of the football club this season.

Sacking any manager halfway through the campaign causes unrest, but this season in particular would be even worse. There are little to no candidates available to vacate the role left by the Dutchman.

The new coach would also have no money to spend in January, a team full of players he doesn’t want and, ultimately, puts us back to square one.

Back Erik ten Hag. He’s the best we’re going to get at the moment.
