The Harry Kane boat has sailed, Manchester United need to sign the next best thing

Manchester United held a long-standing interest in Harry Kane before he joined Bayern Munich in 2023.

The England international is showing no signs of slowing down in Germany and he could be on the move again in the summer.

Harry Kane, 31, has contributed 33 goals and seven assists in 40 appearances for club and country so far this season.

Those numbers will appeal to Manchester United with the club in desperate need of a goalscorer after the failed investments in youthful duo Rasmus Hojlund and Joshua Zirkzee.

Many fans feel an experienced striker is needed and they will be excited to see United linked with Kane again.

It remains to be seen if Kane will ever return to the Premier League.

Time to give up on Harry Kane

The Reds are being named as an ideal potential destination for Kane in a report by the Telegraph, which also states that the England international will soon have a £54m release clause in his contract at Bayern.

That may prove to be too good an opportunity for United to turn down.

Kane’s goal record speaks for itself but at 31 United would be signing a player who has no resale value.

That is why United should look for the next best thing whether it’s Victor Osimhen or another alternative option.

United should look for the next best thing. Someone younger than Kane but with the same eye for goal.

Manchester United are trying to amend wage structure

Kane would demand a hefty salary if he was to join United next summer.

Any deal involving Kane will likely include a huge salary agreement and that is why United should be steering clear of the England international.

United should be fighting hard to keep the likes of Garnacho rather than trying to sign Kane.

The Reds have already amended their wage structure by sorting loan deals for Antony and Marcus Rashford.
