Ryan Giggs singled out the future of a trio of Manchester United players if Ineos decided to appoint Michael Carrick to the Red Devils head coach permanently.
Michael Carrick was installed in charge of the Manchester United first-team squad after the Red Devils sacked Ruben Amorim as head coach in January.
The 44-year-old United legend has impressed during his 12-match interim spell so far, with Carrick overseeing eight wins and two defeats since his appointment.
Despite tapping into the current United squad, Ryan Giggs spotlighted the likes of Marcus Rashford, Rasmus Hojlund and Jadon Sancho, who have all been out on loan.

Is Michael Carrick the right man? United have only won one of the last four games…
Ryan Giggs namechecked Marcus Rashford, Rasmus Hojlund and Jadon Sancho amid a permanent Michael Carrick reign
Jadon Sancho has been out on loan at Aston Villa this season, while Marcus Rashford and Rasmus Hojlund have been at Barcelona and Napoli respectively.
Speaking on Rio Ferdinand Presents, Manchester United icon Ryan Giggs said: “He’s got big decisions with the likes of Marcus, Hojlund, Sancho, all these players.”
Giggs argued that Hojlund, who left Old Trafford last summer, would be the one option that he would keep out of him, Rashford and Sancho if he had the choice.
The 52-year-old former Man Utd superstar’s belief would be that the Napoli striker would be able to offer a potential alternative to Benjamin Sesko under Michael Carrick.
“Maybe Hojlund, maybe,” Giggs added.
“I thought he was unlucky; he was just the only centre forward at the club. Everyone expected him to come in and do great. I think Sesko gets more chances and scores more goals.
“But you never know, if you’ve got two young, hungry centre forwards up front and say fight it out.
“You see, at United, that’s always been a strength. I say training is harder than the games, if you’ve United centre halves at one end marking Sesko, it’s going to be competitive.”
Where does Andoni Iraola rank for you among Michael Carrick alternatives?
Would you want Iraola at Old Trafford, now he is ready for a new challenge?
Even if Michael Carrick is appointed, Ineos ensure Ryan Giggs’ Man Utd trio of names are offloaded from Old Trafford
A potential Carrick appointment on a permanent basis must come with an ethos of ‘moving forward’ for Ineos in the post-Ruben Amorim era of the Red Devils.
Sancho’s fate already seems settled at Man Utd at least, with the 26-year-old Aston Villa flop being out of contract at Old Trafford at the end of the 2025-26 season.
United must now hope that Barcelona opt to trigger the permanent clause of Rashford after a relatively successful spell at the Camp Nou in the current campaign.
Hojlund is also likely to leave Old Trafford in the summer if Napoli secure a top-four Serie A finish, which would trigger the Denmark striker’s transfer clause.
Irrespective of waiting for certain outcomes, Giggs’ hope of even having Hojlund as a challenger to Benjamin Sesko would feel like regression rather than progression.
Ineos must continue the major clearout of the Man Utd first-team squad this summer and secure either transfer fees or free up wages for better signings.
