Ruben Amorim will hope that the win against Chelsea starts a winning run for his side, but one player lost his chance to debut this week through no fault of his own.
The 2-1 win against Chelsea sent a streak of relief through the veins of Man Utd and Ruben Amorim, and with Brentford and Sunderland up next, there is a chance of building some momentum.
The first XI is clearly taking shape, and with just one game every week, the need to rotate, outside of a tactical call or two, is minimised.

That leaves one Man Utd star in a tricky position, who, through no fault of his own, lost his chance at making a debut this week.

Man Utd took games away from Senne Lammens
United play Brentford on September 27th, but, in the meantime, many Premier League teams will be in action this week.
Ruben Amorim’s men could have been one of those teams, but, courtesy of the most embarrassing defeat this season, that won’t be the case.
United’s loss to Grimsby in the Carabao Cup in August ensured that their journey in the domestic cup ended in the second round.
With the third-round fixtures taking place this week, it was the ideal time for Amorim to introduce Senne Lammens to the first XI.
Instead, through no fault of his own, Lammens’ wait for his Man Utd debut is set to stretch indefinitely.
That is because Altay Bayindir had an error-free game against Chelsea, ensuring he starts against Brentford, which is again followed by a winnable game at home to Sunderland.
Considering the international break follows the Sunderland game, after which there’s a game against Liverpool, Lammens could easily spend two months on the bench before Amorim selects him ahead of Bayindir in goal.
That wait could have ended this week had Lammens’ teammates not let themselves down against League Two opposition back in August.
Ripples of Carabao Cup will be felt throughout the season
Lammens is the most high-profile casualty of United’s elimination from the cup, but the ripples of the same will be felt throughout the season.
With no European football either, United will have just the league game until January, when the FA Cup begins with the third round.
Already, a lack of games has seen itchy feet from Kobbie Mainoo, while youngsters like Ayden Heaven have fallen off the radar completely.
The numerous youngsters who are knocking on the first team door aren’t even getting a mention, just because there’s no cup competition to blood them in.
Amorim has quite a big task ahead of him to keep his squad happy without stalling the development of youngsters.
Those precious few games in the Carabao Cup were a brilliant opportunity for them to raise their hand and get noticed.
Lammens could’ve started a brilliant run in a game of lower stakes. Instead, he looks set to warm the bench for at least another month, with no debut in sight.
