Ruben Amorim has delivered damning verdict on two Man Utd stars as summer transfer plans emerge

Ruben Amorim looks ready to wield the axe at Manchester United as the season inches towards completion, as only (potentially) three games of consequence are left.

The biggest advantage of Ruben Amorim arriving mid-season is that he enters his first summer transfer window fully knowing about the players at his disposal.

Going by the performances of those players, it’s hard to argue against what Sir Jim Ratcliffe is planning for transfer window.

Fabrizio Romano has also said that Man Utd’s transfer window will be blockbuster, and the Man Utd manager has now delivered a damning verdict on two players if latest reports are to be believed.

Ruben Amorim’s damning verdict

Looking at the Man Utd squad, it’s extremely easy to identify the areas of need. A ball-playing midfielder is needed, a No 10 will be required if multilple departures are sealed and a No. 9 is urgent on the agenda.

After Andre Onana’s struggles, the goalkeeping department is also in need of addressing even though United might have an in-house answer in Radek Vitek.

Due to United’s financial situation, the club needs to pick and choose, prioritising what position they’ll strengthen first.

According to Manchester Evening News, Amorim has done that in a damning verdict on two Man Utd stars.

A goalkeeper and a striker are at the top of the agenda for United this summer, with Amorim making his mind up within two months of arriving that Andre Onana needs competition, while Rasmus Hojlund’s woes speak for themselves.

Altay Bayindir could also leave which means United could splurge on a proper first-choice goalkeeper and let him challenge Onana.

Andre Onana and Rasmus Hojlund face judgement season

If this report is true, then it speaks volumes about what Amorim thinks of the current options at his disposal for those positions.

Amorim has already admitted that Hojlund is stuck in a vicious cycle, while Onana has bounced back well but his consistency remains an issue.

Due to high wages and fee, it looks like Onana will stay at United next season barring an astronomical offer from Saudi Arabia, while there’s Italian interest in Hojlund.

United will want to make a profit on both and considering how much the club overspent on the duo, that’s unlikely to happen.

Therefore, it is likely that the duo faces a judgement season next campaign, fighting to save their United careers as amortisation further reduces their book value after a year, making them easier to shift.

It’s sink or swim time and they’ll have to do so while contending with new players at their positions.
