Patrick Dorgu admits he was impacted when former Manchester United head coach Ruben Amorim criticised him publicly.
During his time in charge of Manchester United, Ruben Amorim was criticised for being too open and honest in front of the media.
Amorim was often too emotional, and back in November he claimed that he feels ‘anxiety’ every time Patrick Dorgu touches the ball.
Hardly a confidence booster for the 21-year-old, who was still settling into new surroundings at Old Trafford.

Patrick Dorgu opens up on Ruben Amorim criticism
Patrick Dorgu enjoyed his best run of form in a United shirt after Amorim was sacked. He scored against Manchester City and Arsenal in back-to-back matches before suffering an unfortunate injury.
Speaking to The Telegraph, Dorgu has opened up on how he was affected by Amorim’s words.
“It hit me a little bit when Amorim says that because when the coach speaks bad about you, it is always going to affect you a little bit,” Dorgu said.
“I just took it in the best possible way and tried to improve my game.
“Even before he got sacked in the last couple of games, I started to get into a rhythm as people started going to Afcon. I had a good moment.
“I just had to take that confidence into Fletcher and Carrick. I just tried to play with a bit more confidence and express myself.”

Patrick Dorgu has the right mentality to succeed at Man Utd
While Amorim’s words were unnecessary, they did produce a reaction in Dorgu, and a positive one at that.
Many players would have slumped or lashed out about criticism from a head coach, but Dorgu let his football do the talking.

Dorgu returned to United’s matchday squad for the 2-1 win over Brentford and he should be back in contention for minutes against Liverpool on Sunday afternoon.
Under Michael Carrick, Dorgu has played his best football as a left winger, and that is where he could make his return.
