Goalkeeping coach Craig Mawson has had first-hand experience with Michael Carrick’s coaching staff and there would be a major benefit for Ineos to keep all of them at Old Trafford.

Michael Carrick has been praised for his work at Old Trafford, but the Manchester United coaching staff have rightfully received admiration for their contributions.

The 44-year-old United legend reunited with former Middlesbrough assistant head coach Jonathan Woodgate and former teammate Jonny Evans at the club.

Carrick received another major boost in the form of former England assistant manager Steve Holland, who has become his right-hand man at Old Trafford.

Craig Mawson’s development is extending beyond Michael Carrick alone and is learning from the Man Utd coaching staff as well

Craig Mawson was at Manchester United’s four-day training camp in Dublin earlier this week ahead of the Red Devils’ Republic of Ireland visit ending on Thursday.

Michael Carrick and his coaching staff were able to work closely with the United first-team players in the immediate aftermath of the March international break.

Speaking at the tail end of Man Utd’s stay at the Carton House in County Kildare, Mawson opened up about the effectiveness of the Red Devils coaching staff.

“I’ve been really fortunate in my time here to work under some really good goalkeeping coaches and some good managers in my own development journey as a coach,” he told Manchester United’s official website.

“You’re taking little bits of different coaches’ ideas to build your own practices and identity as a coach.

“[I’m] always learning. [There is a] different voice [now] at the top from the manager, some really good people first and foremost within the staff, and some good football people that are really knowledgeable.

“For my own personal development, to be able to work closely and sit ’round a table in an office or sit ’round a meal table to listen [helps me to] continue learning myself.”

Craig Mawson’s experience with Michael Carrick’s coaching staff is a telling sign for Ineos over the future

Whether it is Jonathan Woodgate, Jonny Evans, Steve Holland or Travis Binnion, Carrick’s coaching staff at Man Utd has been running like a well-oiled machine.

Carrick has been tipped as a potential permanent appointment to the United manager post amid Ineos’ hunt for Ruben Amorim’s long-term replacement.

The ex-Middlesbrough head coach’s ascension to the Old Trafford hot seat on a full-time basis would have to come with the entire United coaching staff at the same time.

Each individual has offered their own influence on the current Man Utd ‘philosophy’ that Carrick has implemented during his interim head coach reign since January.

From Holland’s importance in reinforcing the Man Utd defence to Evans’ work with set-pieces, the Red Devils have a new identity amid keeping close to the club’s ‘DNA.’

Ineos are looking for ‘new beginnings’ at United in the post-Ruben Amorim era and Carrick and his Man Utd coaching staff have already shown that they are the answer to that.
