Manchester United’s next signing after Bryan Mbeumo is an absolute must

Manchester United are trying to get their business done early this summer after capturing Matheus Cunha from Wolves and quickly moving on to Brentford’s Bryan Mbeumo.

While it has been clear until this point that Ineos want to focus on rebuilding around young players, United fans are seeing a shift this summer with the football club appearing to target players with Premier League experience.

That was evident with Matheus Cunha arriving this week. Ruben Amorim has added a proven goalscorer to the squad as he attempts to address the problems in front of goal. It now looks like he is trying to do the same by signing Brentford’s Bryan Mbeumo.

Like Cunha, Mbeumo has plenty of Premier League experience after establishing himself as a star forward during his time at the Brentford Community Stadium.

There was more evidence of United’s pursuit to sign Premier League stars when they targeted a move for Liam Delap, who has since edged closer to joining Chelsea after suffering relegation at Ipswich Town.

Omar Berrada and co cannot be accused of standing flat-footed at the start of the window. Fans are bound to feel encouraged if more signings are completed before pre-season begins.

No 9 must follow Bryan Mbeumo to Manchester United

There wasn’t a single United fan happy with the attacking department last season.

It underperformed as a whole, while Rasmus Hojlund finished the season with more questions than answers.

The potential addition of Mbeumo means United will be well-stacked in terms of No. 10s because the Cameroon international could complement Cunha with the pair playing in behind a striker.

Amorim needs to change the fact that in this season’s Premier League campaign, not a single player broke into double figures for goals scored, with Bruno Fernandes and Amad Diallo leading the goalscoring charts with just eight goals each.

To add to the frustration of Hojlund’s performances, Joshua Zirkzee arrived and does not like a goalscorer. Instead, he is an attacking player who can contribute in different ways by linking up with his teammates.

Hojlund and Zirkzee managed just seven goals between them in the league. That is the main reason why there will be attacking reinforcements made this summer.

7 striker options for Man Utd

Finding the right striker at the right price won’t be easy, but it must be United’s next move in the market if they can reach an agreement with Brentford for Mbeumo.

Hojlund has been linked with a move to Inter Milan, which could be a way for United to raise further funds until they think he can turn things around in England.

United in Focus has listed seven options United could look at to lead the attacking line next season, although some of these players may limit themselves to moves to Champions League clubs, which would be a blow for the Red Devils.
