Alex Scott looks like the next man up on Man Utd’s midfield rebuild shortlist, and the club have three aces up their sleeve to speed that one up.
So far, Man Utd have struck out on Elliot Anderson and Mateus Fernandes, while fringe target Sandro Tonali is also off to Spurs.
Ineos have decided to stay financially disciplined, but that doesn’t mean selling clubs won’t slap huge asking prices for their targets.
Bournemouth certainly won’t for Alex Scott, so United need to try and get creative, using three aces up their sleeve to grease the wheels for a deal.

Which transfer targets do you NOT want Man Utd to sign?
Let's turn the transfer question on it's head, and give Jason Wilcox some advice…
1- Harry Amass
Harry Amass spent the last season on two loans – Sheffield Wednesday and Norwich, where he had contrasting fortunes.
He was a superstar at Wednesday, but then an injury curtailed his ascent at Norwich. Now back at Old Trafford, he’s ready for a Premier League side.
Bournemouth have a great left-back in Adrian Truffert, but with the club in European competitions, they need depth.
Amass could be a shrewd addition for them on a loan deal as they navigate four competitions next season, and the player will get Premier League and European experience.
2- Chido Obi
Bournemouth could also be looking at striking reinforcements, especially since Eli Junior Kroupi is attracting a lot of interest.
Chido Obi could be the answer as someone who has grown immensely and has gone through the rigours of Premier League football at a young age.
Obi will benefit from being in and around a Premier League team, and Bournemouth will have a player who is ready to explode and score goals at the top level.
What is your INSTANT REACTION to Chido Obi’s 2025/26 season?
If it happens on the South Coast, the Cherries will have a gun option up front in a season where they need a deep squad.
3- Toby Collyer
Toby Collyer is back at Carrington after an encouraging loan spell at Hull City, even if it was disrupted by injuries.
He might even go back to Hull City this summer, which clearly shows that English teams think he’s ready for the Premier League.
If he can just stay fit, then Collyer is the perfect midfielder for an underdog team that plays high-intensity football, like Bournemouth.
More importantly, adding Collyer to a potential deal for Scott leaves Bournemouth equal in the midfield area, even if the profile of the player is different.
United could do with adding him to the deal if Bournemouth show interest and it shaves off £10m or so from the asking price, rather than selling him elsewhere for the same money.
