Man Utd can rely on Amad and Bryan Mbeumo to expose Brentford’s big weakness due to injury

Manchester United face Brentford on Monday night at Old Trafford, and Michael Carrick will be hoping to take advantage of a glaring weakness the Bees have.

Manchester United can put one foot into the Champions League next season with a victory over Brentford on Monday.

With Chelsea losing to Brighton mid-week, United need just four points from five games, which is a very achievable tally.

So, ahead of the game against Brentford, Keith Andrews’ admission of injury absences to three key players will be a welcome blow.

In particular, the injury absence of one player creates a huge weakness United could take advantage of.

Brentford have a major weakness at left-back vs Manchester United

One player missing for Brentford will be left-back Rico Henry, which is a position they cannot so easily replace right now.

Henry’s recent absence has seen winger Keane Lewis-Potter move into a full-back role, with his performances being poor.

So, with left-back being a potential weakness, this is a game in which Amad or Bryan Mbeumo are going to have to step up.

Both will have the beating of Lewis-Potter and United will need to take advantage by focusing play down the right to try and capitalise on this.

With a winger defending Amad or Mbeumo, whoever starts has no excuse not to take on Lewis-Potter and make things happen, either getting to the byline and cross or cutting inside for a shot; they should be pretty unstoppable.

Bryan Mbeumo should start for Manchester United up front

Since taking charge, Michael Carrick has often picked his attack sporadically, depending on what the game requires.

But against Brentford, with a likely high-intensity game, United could use Mbeumo as a runner, up front with lots of quick breaks for both teams.

Mbeumo will be motivated against his former team, and so, despite his poor form in the past couple of months, this means he should start.

Amad is the better option to terrorise Lewis-Potter with his dribbling and ability to beat defenders with ease.

So that leaves Mbeumo up front and Benjamin Sesko back to the bench, where he has been so impactful from under Carrick.
