Manchester United are being linked with a move for manager Graham Potter – but it just doesn’t add up to us.
Erik ten Hag is busy preparing for tonight’s Champions League clash against Copenhagen.
This is an absolute must-win game for United and Ten Hag will be looking to build on Saturday’s 2-1 win at Sheffield United.
The last thing Ten Hag needs is speculation about his future – but he has seen one manager linked with the United hot seat.
Graham Potter linked with Manchester United job
The Sun report that Graham Potter is ‘keeping an ear out’ for the United job.
Napoli are understood to be keen on Potter, who has been out of work since leaving Chelsea earlier this year.
The report goes on to say that Potter is a real candidate to replace Ten Hag if Sir Jim Ratcliffe’s investment goes through.
Sir Dave Brailsford, who is something of a sidekick to Ratcliffe, is understood to be a huge fan of Potter.
Brailsford wanted Potter to become the manager of Nice – Ratcliffe’s club in France – over the summer but that didn’t happen.
The admiration remains though and Potter is allegedly on the United radar if a replacement for Ten Hag is needed.

We can’t see Potter taking over from Ten Hag
The Brailsford and Ratcliffe aspects make some kind of sense here after the summer rumours surrounding a move to Nice.
We just can’t see Ten Hag losing his job any time soon, even after a less-than-ideal start to the new season.
The Telegraph reported earlier this month that Ineos have real admiration for Ten Hag and his work at Old Trafford.
That would suggest that there are no plans for Ratcliffe to make a managerial change once he seizes control of football operations at United.
Ten Hag has certainly earned time to get it right at United having enjoyed a positive first season at the club last season.
Sacking Ten Hag for Potter – a manager who never got going at Chelsea – just doesn’t make sense and we would suggest that Ten Hag has nothing to worry about.
