England midfielder Kobbie Mainoo is on the verge of reaching a personal milestone feat in his Manchester United playing career during the 2025-26 Premier League season.

The Manchester United youth academy product has made 91 senior appearances for the Red Devils ahead of the Premier League club’s encounter against Everton.

Kobbie Mainoo has netted seven times and registered five assists for the United first team since his breakout emergence under former Red Devils boss Erik ten Hag.

The Three Lions international’s future at Old Trafford took an interesting – and unexpected – turn for the worse in the 2025-26 Premier League season.

Mainoo found himself on the bench under Ruben Amorim and was left fighting for minutes in the current campaign after losing his place in the Red Devils starting XI.

Mainoo has started all five matches under Michael Carrick’s reign so far and his resurgence in form has already caught the eye of England boss Thomas Tuchel.

The Red Devils talent has not played for England since 2024 and Mainoo’s path to 100 matches for United includes a ‘World Cup audition’ period for the Three Lions.

Thomas Tuchel has praised Mainoo’s turnaround in form at Old Trafford and the Three Lions manager has not closed the door on his return to international duty.

Kobbie Mainoo’s road to 100 Man Utd matches could be an early preview of his future at Old Trafford

Amid the turbulence of the Amorim and Mainoo dynamic, the 20-year-old Stockport talent’s future has been up in the air amid his Man Utd contract expiring in 2027.

United are keen to keep hold of Mainoo for the long term, so much so that they rejected his loan move away in 2025 and called for him to fight for his place under Amorim.

Mainoo has the perfect period from now until his milestone 100 matches for United to send a clear-cut message about the need to tie him down to a brand-new deal.

Outside of the noise around Mainoo’s United contract talks, the England international could even use this period as a sounding board for his long-term role in the squad.

United fans expect to see Mainoo in the Red Devils’ colours for a long time and the England star could show why he is potential vice-captain material in the future.
