Joshua Zirkzee’s future at Man Utd is set to dominate the discussion this January transfer window but he’s crossed a line that Ineos simply can’t ignore.
Despite being the only goalscorer in Man Utd’s most recent game, a 1-1 draw against Wolves, the future of Joshua Zirkzee is far from certain.
Before the Wolves game, he put in one of his worst performances in a United shirt against Newcastle, which prompted questions about his professionalism.
The real reason why Ruben Amorim subbed off Man Utd striker Joshua Zirkzee against Wolves… 🤔👀
Did Ruben Amorim make a major mistake taking Joshua Zirkzee off? 😩 Should Benjamin Sesko come off instead of Zirkzee? Let us know YOUR verdict! ✍️
Recent developments suggest that he has now crossed a line that Ineos and Ruben Amorim simply can’t ignore anymore.

Joshua Zirkzee has crossed the sacred line at Man Utd
To say that Zirkzee has had a rollercoaster ride at Old Trafford would be an understatement, as a goal on debut last season gave way to a nightmare spell.
He eventually returned and played so well that his presence for the Europa League final was looked at as potentially a huge boost.
However, after missing the pre-season this year, he looked a step behind his teammates, all the while, transfer rumours have never stopped following him.
Still, he continued to try his best and never gave Amorim a reason to complain about his effort and professionalism.
More importantly, despite all the noise around his future, his stance was always about staying put at United and proving himself capable of playing at this level.
However, recent reports suggest that not only has Zirkzee agreed personal terms with Roma over a loan-to-buy deal, but he is also actively pushing and waiting for United to green-light the move.
And thus, a sacred line has been crossed. Zirkzee has given up on his United career, and, in turn, made a choice that Ineos simply can’t ignore anymore.
Ineos can’t ignore Zirkzee’s choice
The jury is out on Amorim, but Ineos deserve credit for their footballing decisions elsewhere, mainly in the recruitment side of things.
Are you happy with Ineos and Sir Jim Ratcliffe?
A key reason why that’s happened is that they have a non-negotiable policy of buying players only when they truly want to play for the club.
It’s why Amorim pulled the plug on Antoine Semenyo, and Benjamin Sesko was signed when Liam Delap chose Chelsea.
The same applies to players already at the club, as they don’t stand in the way of those who have their heart set elsewhere, as seen in the case of Alejandro Garnacho or Marcus Rashford.
With his stance on Roma, Zirkzee has crossed the line and made it clear that he no longer wants to play for United, something which Ineos can’t ignore.
The January transfer window must end with Zirkzee in another club’s colours, with Ineos standing firm on their non-negotiable policy.
