Manchester United youngster Facundo Pellistri made an impact in the second half against Everton, overshadowed by Alejandro Garnacho’s brilliance.

Quite rightly, Alejandro Garnacho‘s moment of magic against Everton grabbed the headlines. It is rare you see an magnificent overhead kick executed so spectacularly.

But there was a lot going on in Manchester United’s 3-0 win at Goodison Park, especially in the second half when the Red Devils took control and Everton began to lose hope.

Bruno Fernandes praised the energy brought to the team by substitute duo Hannibal Mejbri and Facundo Pellistri, and it was the latter who had a big hand in Manchester United’s third goal.

Facundo Pellistri makes an impact

Facundo Pellistri did not end up with another assist, but there was no denying the contribution he made to the team’s third.

It was Pellistri’s run that moved the team into the final third, getting on the end of a Bruno Fernandes pass. He then cut inside and played the ball back to Fernandes, who slipped Anthony Martial into score.

The move displayed one of Pellistri’s big assets, his decision making.

Pellistri is more than capable of going to the touchline and whipping a cross in, this is among his strengths, but when the time is right. On this occasion, he chose to turn and pass to Fernandes 25 yards from goal.

In such limited minutes, just another 18 against Everton, Pellistri always finds a way to contribute.

Along with Garnacho, the pair provide real promise for the future, and for the immediate run of games across this tricky month ahead.

Pellistri tops superb week

The moment topped an excellent week for Facundo Pellistri, who had started twice for Uruguay in big wins over Brazil and Argentina.

Pellistri provided an assist in the second game, and is a key player in Marcelo Bielsa’s international side.

He was reported to have picked up a small knock on international duty, but it didn’t stop him making Manchester United’s matchday squad.

Every time he gets game time under Erik ten Hag, he makes a case that he deserves more. United need players like this in the squad, and we should see a lot more of him over the next month.
