Manchester United are back to winning ways… just.
They left it late, with a Bruno Fernandes strike being the difference at Craven Cottage. It really was a fantastic goal from Bruno, who showed great composure in the last minute of the game.
There were some good performers for United. In particular, Fernandes, Harry Maguire and Scott McTominay were all excellent – with a brief shout-out to Andre Onana for some fine stops.
But arguably the Man of the Match was in the stands for United, who gave a five-word message that seems to have been heard loud and clear by the Manchester United first-team squad.

Manchester United banner heard loud and clear
In the away end for Manchester United, there were a few fans who decided to bring in a banner. This had the following five-word message on it: ‘Play like you mean it!!’.
This was met with many of the players after the game posting pictures, all referring to the message. Evidently, it was heard loud and clear.
Speaking to TNT Sports at full-time, Scott McTominay also acknowledged the five-word message. He said:
“We saw the banner before the game and a few of us said, ‘You know what, the fans pay good money to come and watch us every weekend.’
“The support is relentless towards us every single week and we just want to repay them as best as we can. Things aren’t going the best at the moment but like you say, it’s building blocks, step by step.
“The manager, the coaching staff, we trust them a lot, we trust the players and I feel like we can go on and kick on and do better.”
Could this seriously kickstart Manchester United’s season?
Maybe this has given some players a reality check.
United didn’t exactly play well against Fulham, but you can tell the genuine want to perform is there. This could be something that sticks with the players this season.
When the going gets tough, they may think back to the banner and remind themselves of the position they’re in. A Manchester United player. A privilege.
We commend the Red Devils fan who got it into Craven Cottage and sincerely hope the message sticks with the players for the foreseeable!
