Liverpool will be quaking in their boots when they arrive at Old Trafford to face a Bruno Fernandes-inspired Manchester United side destined for Champions League qualification.

Manchester United host Liverpool in the Premier League on Sunday, with a chance to bridge a six-point gap over their rivals in the standings.

Both United and Liverpool are looking to secure qualification for the Champions League in their final four league matches. A win for the Red Devils would guarantee them a place in Europe’s most prestigious tournament next season.

Liverpool will be without Mohamed Salah, but they also need to keep a watchful eye on Bruno Fernandes, who is in red-hot form right now.

Bruno Fernandes will be key against Liverpool

United can beat any team in the Premier League when Fernandes is at his best.

A lot of factors have contributed to United’s improvement since January. Among them are Michael Carrick’s appointment and his decision to play Fernandes further forward as a No. 10.

Fernandes is now a serious contender for the Premier League Player of the Year award, despite United sitting in third place rather than competing for the title. That shows the influence Fernandes has on the team.

Liverpool manager Arne Slot will be trying to come up with a way to keep Fernandes quiet ahead of Sunday’s game. A look at Fernandes’ goal contribution record over the last seven games suggests that the Merseyside outfit has a huge job on their hands.

Fernandes is one assist from reaching a season tally of 20 in the Premier League, which would see him equal a record currently set by Thierry Henry and Kevin De Bruyne.
