Manchester United could go nine points clear of sixth on Friday night with a victory against Bournemouth, and Amad needs to be starting again.
For the 3-1 win against Aston Villa, Amad returned to the starting line-up, and the balance of the attack meant Manchester United performed better than in recent weeks, as he also impressed with his performance at right wing.
Having a natural winger made United harder to defend, with Amad causing issues down the right side, creating two chances in the process.
Amad will know he needs to start scoring and assisting, and he should really get another chance to do so from the start against Bournemouth. Last time the two sides met, Andoni Iraola even highlighted Amad as a threat.
Amad is now worth ___________
Fill in the blank!
What Andoni Iraola said about Manchester United’s attack
Speaking ahead of the 4-4 draw in December, Iraola hailed United’s attack but specified that Amad, in particular, has impressed him.
“The signings they have made up front — [Bryan] Mbeumo, [Matheus] Cunha, [and] Sesko [are threatening] — but especially players like Amad, who is now even more important.
“He is an even bigger threat, and we have to be ready to defend difficult duels for the full-backs and for the centre-backs because you have to defend some very good players in open spaces.”
For United’s blockbuster front three to be pushed aside for Amad shows how highly the Ivorian is thought of by Iraola. Amad on his day is as good as anybody, and only poor finishing has prevented him from having another great season.
In the 4-4 draw at Old Trafford, Amad was brilliant for United, putting in what was one of his finest performances of the season so far, and therefore his position against Bournemouth shouldn’t be in doubt.
Will Man Utd WIN away vs Bournemouth? How confident are you feeling?
We have a mixed record on the road at Bournemouth…
Amad should always be part of Manchester United’s starting line-up
While on paper, United’s three summer signings create the best attack, football isn’t played on paper and Amad should always be on the pitch.
Bryan Mbeumo, Benjamin Sesko and Matheus Cunha are all forwards who are looking to score, often to the detriment of attacking moves. However, with Amad, there is a an attacker who is looking to create, which makes the team function a lot better.
The Ivorian creates balance for United, which is so important and so Michael Carrick needs to find a way to get him into the team.
Iraola knows it, and starting Amad makes United more dangerous.
