Amad Diallo has been a silver lining in a difficult season for Manchester United.
When Marcus Rashford and Alejandro Garnacho were dropped for the Manchester derby win, it was Amad Diallo who stood up and won the game in stoppage time with a wonderful finish that left Pep Guardiola feeling bemused at the Etihad Stadium.
Amad, who continues to shine under Ruben Amorim, came off the bench in United’s 4-3 defeat to Tottenham in the Carabao Cup, only to register two goal contributions.
The 22-year-old is taking his chance in United’s first-team, whereas Rashford is struggling to perform and it remains to be seen if Garnacho will find a role in Amorim’s preferred system.
Amorim promised to give every player a chance to prove themselves and he’s done exactly that. Amad is one repaying the manager for the faith shown in him.

Amad Diallo reaches new level after Erik ten Hag sacking
Amad’s growing influence on the team ties in with Erik ten Hag’s dismissal.
The Ivory Coast international featured on the bench for six games in a row until he started against PAOK in the Europa League on 7 November.
Ruud van Nistelrooy started Amad against PAOK and Leicester City, but he has kept his place in the team – since featuring in eight games under Amorim. This proves Amad is playing his way into Amorim’s plans.
Since then, Amad has registered 10 goal contributions as he reaches a new level as a regular in Amorim’s side.
Amad Diallo leads by example at Manchester United
There are few things United fans enjoy more than seeing a young player take their opportunity in the first-team.
During a time when Rashford is thinking about leaving Old Trafford, Amad is a blessing in that he is ready to give 100% whenever called upon.
Amad’s goal contributions prove his importance to the team and we need that going forward if United are to climb up the Premier League table.
| Games | Goals | Assists |
| 24 | 5 | 8 |
Amad’s record only raises further questions about why Erik ten Hag overlooked him on so many occasions.
