Amad Diallo’s £37m price tag looks like a bargain amid £111m Yan Diomande rumours

Yan Diomande’s staggering £111m valuation proves that Manchester United’s foresight with Amad Diallo saved them a fortune.

When it comes to players in high demand this summer, Yan Diomande is near the top of that list.

The Ivory Coast international starred for RB Leipzig last season, registering 23 goal contributions in 36 matches, and has been linked to United and an array of other elite European clubs.

Diomande may be out of reach for Manchester United – in terms of transfer fee, for a player with one standout Bundesliga under his belt – but that is not stopping clubs like Real Madrid from joining the race for his signature.

Yan Diomande valuation makes Amad Diallo gamble a bargain

According to Sky Sports, RB Leipzig have rejected an £85.4m bid from Real Madrid for Diomande, who is also attracting interest from Paris Saint-Germain, Arsenal and Man City.

This means Leipzig are demanding more money for Diomande, but it shouldn’t come as a surprise, as they rejected a similar offer from Liverpool earlier this summer.

Reliable journalist Ben Jacobs adds that Leipzig want €130m (£111m) for Diomande’s signature, which would make the winger the most expensive African player of all-time.

While Diomande generated plenty of headlines for Ivory Coast at the 2026 World Cup, it was United winger Amad Diallo who stole the show when the stakes were at their highest.

A glance at the stats will show you that Amad scored one goal, whereas Diomande never got on the scoresheet. The Leipzig star recorded two more assists than Amad but had a lower pass completion rate (82%-76%).

Some might say it’s fine margins, but Amad delivered in the biggest moments for the Ivory Coast.

Based on what we’ve seen from Amad and Diomande, I can’t help but think how much United would have to pay for the former in today’s market.

Amad was a massive gamble because United paid an initial £19m for a youth player from Atalanta, with bonuses raising the cost to £37m.

He is not only a United first-team player now, but Amad is one of the stars in the dressing room, and there is very little to suggest Diomande is a better player, despite having a price tag of over £100m.

When is Amad Diallo scheduled to return for pre-season?

Amad is eligible to return from July 21st, meaning he is set to join up with United’s first-team this week.

However, it remains to be seen if Amad will feature against Atlético Madrid in Stockholm on Saturday.

The same applies to Matheus Cunha, Bruno Fernandes, and Diogo Dalot.

Carrick will be keen to get his best players from the World Cup back into the team.
