£64 million star continues to falter and his struggles may be down to two Man United players

Rasmus Hojlund’s struggles in the Premier League continue with Erik ten Hag’s use of the Danish forward being rather baffling.

Erik ten Hag decided to invest £64 million into Rasmus Hojlund from Atalanta as the Dutchman believed that the 20-year-old forward was the man to lead the line for the Red Devils.

After a rather fruitful debut campaign in the UEFA Champions League for Manchester United, with five goals, Hojlund has gone 14 Premier League games without a goal.

The Danish striker is full of grit and endeavour but the reality is that it is a graveyard shift playing up front for the Red Devils and Ten Hag is now in a difficult position.

United’s front three

Part of the reason behind the struggles for the 20-year-old is the wingers on either side of him struggling to create the chances he needs to thrive in the team.

Antony and Alejandro Garnacho once again struggled for the Red Devils with the pair failing to cause danger for the Hammers with the Brazilian, in particular, looking rather harmless in attack.

The only way this can be solved is a change in the front line with Marcus Rashford, who came on for Hojlund in the second half, also looking lost during his stint up front.

He touched the ball just 17 times for the Red Devils before being replaced by Rashford but the Englishman, as mentioned, also failed to grasp the opportunity given to him.

Hojlund received just one pass from Garnacho and Antony combined. This is not an uncommon occurrence.

Ten Hag’s change

Once Amad Diallo returns to the first team after the injury he sustained during pre-season, he simply has to be involved for the Red Devils and Antony has to come out.

Antony and Garnacho combined played just one pass to Hojlund throughout the game and this really highlights where the Red Devils are going wrong.

In light of this, it is rather perplexing that neither of them were taken off sooner than they eventually were in the game it is quite a worry that Ten Hag has persisted with the pair for so long.

Amad on the right with Rashford on the left flanking Hojlund may well get the best out of the Dane and provide the 20-year-old with actual quality service into the penalty box.
