Manchester United striker Rasmus Hojlund struck his second goal in successive Premier League games, to give the team reason to be positive.

Rasmus Hojlund has now scored in his last two Premier League games, having missed the game against Nottingham Forest.

He scored for Manchester United against Tottenham in Sunday’s 2-2 draw, with a powerful shot to give the Red Devils the lead after just three minutes.

It was the Danish striker’s seventh goal of the season in all competitions, a record which stands up reasonably well despite all the negativity that surrounded his initial Premier League drought.

Rasmus Hojlund’s goal

One of the traits Rasmus Hojlund has is his pace. Another is the sheer power he can get behind his shots.

This was evident with his thumping strike against Spurs to open the scoring, prompting a passionate celebration.

Former United star Wes Brown discussed the striker’s impact, and referred to the difficulties he has had this season, telling MUTV: “Rasmus’ goal was fantastic.

“You could see the frustration he showed in the shot, the power he put into it.”

These comments were echoed by Fraizer Campbell, who commented: “Its exactly what he needed. He took that emphatically.

“He burst the back of the net, it was great to see. You could see in his celebration how much it meant to him.”

Hojlund added an assist, setting up Marcus Rashford, with both goal contributions in the first half. He saw a lot less of the ball in the second 45 minutes.

Every little helps build Hojlund’s confidence

Playing for Manchester United is mentally demanding, and while Rasmus Hojlund has known he belongs at the club, he knows there are certain expectations of him. He will have his own targets he wants to hit too.

With the goals beginning to build up, Hojlund will start to relax, and from there, everything else gets a little easier.

Manchester United need a goalscoring striker, and with January signings proving difficult so far, with no clear candidate emerging, it is important Hojlund can step up.

A FA Cup tie against a lower league side is up next, and this could be the perfect time for Hojlund to add to his goal tally. He’s not far off double figures.
