Talented teenager Alejandro Garnacho is set for a new Manchester United contract ahead of the new Premier League season.
The Times report that the Argentine is going to sign a fresh deal before what could be a real breakout campaign for him under Erik ten Hag.
It was recently reported that United are confident that the wideman would commit his future to the club and it seems things have moved forward on that score.
Garnacho should get his chance to impress in pre-season, and he could also go to the 2022 World Cup with Argentina later this year.
Garnacho set for new United contract
Garnacho recently won a double award for his performances for Argentina under-20 side.
At the France based Mauro Revello tournament, Argentina finished fifth, with France winning the tournament, beating Venezuela in the final.
Garnacho won ‘revelation of the tournament’ for the best player, and ‘goal of the tournament’ for a free-kick he scored against winners France.
The teenager’s performances were also hailed as ‘outstanding’ by AS Argentina, who said he was his country’s best player.
Those performances at youth level may earn him more chances in the senior side, who called him up last season before he had really established himself at United.
Ten Hag has a great reputation for developing young talent and he should be excited about the prospect of working with the teenager.
It could be a huge period ahead for Garnacho, but the key for United is tying him down longer term, which looks closer and closer to being done.
