Manchester United of course travel to the Etihad Stadium to face Manchester City on Sunday for the latest instalment of the Manchester derby.
United actually have a good recent record at the home of their bitter rivals, but it has seldom been a game which had a huge bearing on the title race since Sir Alex Ferguson’s retirement.
The April 2012 meeting was probably the last time, although the United’s 3-2 win eight months later also offered a psychological advantage en route to Fergie’s final title.
Back in April 2010, United were trying to chase down Carlo Ancelotti’s Chelsea and failure to win at City would have all but killed all hopes.

The game was 0-0 going into stoppage time before Paul Scholes popped up late, late on to nod home a dramatic winning goal and send the away end barmy.
And it wasn’t just the fans who lost their heads, as you can see from the photo of Gary Neville below…

Looking ahead to the game often means legends looking back to past meetings and Scholes has done exactly that on Instagram.
He said that the winning goal was one of the best five days of his life in an Instagram post, as well as teasing former teammate Patrice Evra about the standard of the cross he nodded home.

It is worth remembering that Scholes was part of the Treble winning side in 1999, although admitted he did not play in the Champions League final as he was suspended.
That shows how much the derby means to him and one of United’s current crop will hope to be the hero this weekend at the Etihad.
It is far too late for United to challenge City for the title, but a result is needed in the chase for Champions League football and to get some momentum back after the 0-0 draw with Watford last time out.
And of course bragging rights are on offer and United need to restore some pride after an abject display in November’s display at Old Trafford.
