Manchester United insiders have now revealed why the Red Devils actively chose to pursue one summer signing ahead of another tried-and-tested name, according to stunning reports.
The Red Devils were active in the transfer market and welcomed the signings of Bryan Mbeumo, Senne Lammens, Benjamin Sesko, Diego Leon and Matheus Cunha.
Matheus Cunha was the first of the summer signings to arrive at Old Trafford after the Red Devils landed him from Premier League side Wolves in early June.
Both Diego Leon and Bryan Mbeumo made their way to Manchester United in July before the Red Devils finally completed the signing of Benjamin Sesko last month.
Ineos wrapped up their spending spree on deadline day on Monday, with Senne Lammens leaving Royal Antwerp and arriving at Old Trafford to complete his move.
Amid the five summer signings for Ruben Amorim, United have also axed several players from the club like Marcus Rashford, Alejandro Garnacho and Jadon Sancho.

Man Utd sources open up on the Red Devils’ desire to sign Senne Lammens from Royal Antwerp ahead of other options
Manchester United were linked with different options in the window when it came to shot-stoppers, with Emiliano Martinez and Gianluigi Donnarumma both linked.
However, the Red Devils snubbed the likes of Emiliano Martinez and Gianluigi Donnarumma and instead pursued the signing of Senne Lammens this summer.
United secured Lammens’ services from Royal Antwerp after agreeing to pay an initial fee of £18.1m and including add-ons as part of the deadline-day deal.
According to BBC Sport, United sources claimed the ‘dilemma’ to sign Lammens ahead of another linked name was ‘straightforward’ due to different factors.
It has been revealed that insiders suggested that the 23-year-old Belgian shot-stopper was rated ‘exceptionally highly’ for his stats in a range of ‘key metrics.’
BBC Sport reports that the former Antwerp player’s stats in claiming crosses, shot-stopping and not conceding from rebounds and mistakes outshone other options.
Another reason why Man Utd preferred to sign ex-Royal Antwerp star Senne Lammens ahead of Aston Villa ace Emiliano Martinez
United were linked with Emiliano Martinez as an alternative option to Lammens, but the Red Devils ended their interest in the wantaway Aston Villa star on deadline day.
Martinez has remained at Villa Park after failing to complete a move away, with the 2022 World Cup winner reportedly open to a transfer to Old Trafford this summer.
BBC Sport has now claimed that United were ‘respectful of Martinez’ and the 33-year-old Argentine shot-stopper was viewed as a ‘proven’ Premier League option.
However, it is believed that United are still committed to pulling off Omar Berrada’s ambitious ‘Project 150’ plan by winning the Premier League title in 2028.
It was suggested that Lammens ‘should be moving into his prime’ at the age of 26 by the time of Project 150, while Martinez would be 35 years old at that stage.
