Karim Benzema’s Real Madrid departure could be seriously bad news for Manchester United.

The Ballon d’Or winner announced today that he will be leaving Real Madrid this season. The French forward has been undeniably one of the best players in world football over the last decade.

It really is the end of an era for the forward. He’s been at Madrid since 2009 where he’s scored a ridiculous amount of goals for the Spanish side.

Goals that will need to still be scored in the coming seasons, which could be incredibly bad news for Erik ten Hag‘s side.

Why is Benzema leaving Real Madrid bad for Manchester United?

It’s no secret that United are desperate for a striker this summer. Now they’re going to have to compete with arguably the team with the most pulling power of any club in the entire world.

Real Madrid are notorious for always spending big on the world’s best players. Cristiano Ronaldo, Eden Hazard, Kaka and Gareth Bale are just a few of many that come to mind over the past 15 years that Madrid has gone all out for in acquiring.

This is bad news for Manchester United. Tthere aren’t many fantastic strikers in world football available at the moment and the ones that are cost an absolute fortune.

Real Madrid have been linked to one of United’s number-one targets Harry Kane in the past couple of days. With funds seemingly scarce at Old Trafford – Real Madrid could easily lure the player to the Bernabeu simply through financial means.

Another striker that will surely be on their radar is Victor Osimhen. The Nigerian has been immense for Napoli as they secured their first Scudetto title in 30 years.

If a bidding war ensues for either of these names, it’s more than likely that Madrid will win. We sincerely have to hope the player’s preferred destination is Manchester.
