Erik ten Hag will not be on the touchline as Manchester United face Everton in the Premier League.

Manchester United are back in action. They face a tough trip to Goodison Park to take on Sean Dyche’s Everton side.

The Red Devils were given a boost this weekend with the news that arguably Everton’s star player Amadou Onana will miss the fixture through injury. He would have been crucial in the Toffees midfield.

But United will have an absence of their own. A rather unorthodox one in the form of the managerErik ten Hag.

Why Erik ten Hag is not on the touchline for Man Utd v Everton

Erik ten Hag will not be on the touchline for the Premier League fixture against Everton.

This is because the Dutchman already picked up a third yellow card this season during the 1-0 win over Luton Town at Old Trafford.

Combined with his earlier cautions against Tottenham and Arsenal – this means that Ten Hag has a touchline ban, so he won’t be with his usual coaching staff on the Manchester United bench.

It is confirmed that one of Mitchell van der Gaag will adopt the role pitchside usually inhabited by Erik.

The manager was obviously frustrated with the decision – but accepted the fact that this was the fate deemed fair by the officials after the Luton victory.

“Yes, that’s the way [it is]. So I have to accept that. It’s not nice but I’m sure we’ll prepare for Everton and my coaching staff will take over, they are very competent to do the job,” said Ten Hag.

“So that was about a moment so clear, it was a throw-in. But it was the second time. I was on top of it and it was so clear and obvious [it was] our ball. It was my remark, therefore, I got booked.”

Despite his absence, Ten Hag will remain in the ground to hopefully see his side take all three points in Merseyside.
