Manchester United manager Erik ten Hag was unimpressed after his side’s defeat to Newcastle.
Manager Erik ten Hag had a lot to digest after the team’s defeat to Newcastle on Saturday night, another woeful away display against a top team.
Ten Hag’s post-game interview focused on the poor performance, with the manager spending his time defending his players.
But there was another issue on his mind, which he did not address in the media after the game.

Ten Hag visited referee
ESPN report that after the game, Erik ten Hag and Bruno Fernandes made a visit to the referee’s office to seek an explanation why Fabian Schar was not sent off.
Schar was not even given a card for a horrific challenge on Fernandes which should have seen red.
The report states ‘United were upset’ with the decision not to send Schar off. The game ended 1-0 to Newcastle, with a late goal disallowed. This was a clear mistake from the referee to not even caution Schar.
Fernandes required treatment on the pitch after the mistimed tackle.
It is not stated whether United were satisfied with the explanation they received from the officials, but this does show how aggrieved player and manager felt about the issue, which is just the latest in a long line of incidents to go against the Red Devils this season.
Referee view
The incident was discussed on Sky Sports’ Ref Watch on Monday morning, and former referee Dermot Gallagher did not agree Schar should have been sent off.
He agreed Schar should have been punished, but said the challenge was not high enough to warrant an automatic red card, and should have been a yellow card instead.
