Manchester United loanee Di’Shon Bernard produced an imperious defensive display to help Hull City beat Middlesbrough 2-0 in the Championship.
The 20-year-old centre back returned to the Tigers’ starting line-up after two matches on the bench.
The win against Neil Warnock’s side meant that Hull City climbed out of the Championship relegation zone heading into the October international break.
Di’Shon Bernard shines for Hull
Playing at the heart of a back three for Grant McCann’s side, Bernard produced a faultless all-round defensive display that gave his team a priceless win.
Bernard made one tackle, one interception, five clearances and blocked three shots (WhoScored).
No player across both teams made more clearances or blocked as many shots as the United youngster.
Bernard’s dominant display earnt him the man of the match award which is yet another positive step in his continued development and adaption to senior football.
After a spell with the Class of 92s Salford City in League Two, like his academy teammates Ethan Laird, James Garner and Tahith Chong, Bernard is thriving by getting regular Championship action.
His focus will be on keeping the newly-promoted side in the Championship and gaining vital experience in a high-quality physically challenging league.
United’s decision to loan out Bernard looks to be paying dividends and the youngster is producing the goods for his loan side.
