Eagle-eyed Manchester United fans captured a very classy moment from Ruud van Nistelrooy after the Red Devils’ Premier League win over Fulham at Old Trafford.
Ruud van Nistelrooy made his sensational return to the Premier League club after he became part of Erik ten Hag’s Manchester United coaching staff.
The 48-year-old Dutchman arrived at Old Trafford this summer alongside Rene Hake, with the pair becoming United assistant managers under Erik ten Hag.
Van Nistelrooy, who was a United fan favourite during his remarkable playing career, had been out of management since 2023 after his spell with PSV Eindhoven.
The United legend led PSV Eindhoven to a Dutch Cup in the 2022-23 campaign, but he stepped down from his role before the end of the season.
Van Nistelrooy had been linked with a return to management and attracted interest from English clubs before he returned to Old Trafford.
The legendary former United striker took part in the club’s pre-season tour and was spotted in the dugout for the Premier League match against Fulham last week.

Van Nistelrooy after Man Utd win
Erik ten Hag’s Manchester United side kicked off their 2024-25 Premier League season with a 1-0 win over Marco Silva’s Fulham side at Old Trafford.
United summer signing Joshua Zirkzee came off the bench in the second half and broke the deadlock in the 87th minute to secure all three points for the Red Devils.
Following on from the win over Fulham, United fans could be heard serenading Ruud van Nistelrooy’s name as he applauded the spine-tinging reception he received.
But footage made the rounds of Van Nistelrooy quickly turning his attention to the United players walking off the pitch and urging fans to chant for them.
One fan posted the footage on social media platform X, formerly known as Twitter, with United supporters praising the assistant manager for his very classy move.
Ten Hag talks Van Nistelrooy and Man Utd
Ten Hag waxed lyrical about Van Nistelrooy’s return to Old Trafford and claimed his fellow Dutchman would bring with him the “DNA of Manchester United.”
Speaking to Manchester United’s official website in July, he said: “First of all, his character has brought him so far and it’s an example for everyone here in the building.
“Of course, he will also bring some DNA of Manchester United in, but that character is such a strong driver and that is also what he shows as a coach.
“He has such a highly interesting profile, he’s so ambitious, he has the skills and he already has a lot of experience.
“He’s assisted the Dutch squad, in PSV he did the Under-19s as a manager, he did the Under-21s, Jong PSV, who were playing at the second level and then he was manager of the first team.
“So much experience, but very young, very ambitious, very driven. With his skills and his intelligence, he will help all the players and the team.”
